Hi, I recently made quite some design changes on my site, would really appreciate your feedback! It’s live at http://www.kristofdevos.com

    Thanks!

I like the fading image overlay effect but it may be a bit much because there’s no way to ‘avoid’ it. You’ll notice it doesn’t work on the right top of the left image (and vice versa) by the way because the padding-margin of the above elements is partly on top. Might be worth giving the images a higher z-index.

    Nice clean style in general.

Thanks for the reply Shikkediel! I’m not sure I know on which page you see the fading image overlay though? Is it the blog index page?

I see them in several places but what I described (the minor glitch) concerns the two large images on the main page. When you hover those at the top, the effect won’t work because the element above is overlapping them.

Nice work! Just want to echo the same sentiments from the rest of the group that the minimalism is drop-dead gorgeous.

If I had to be nit-picky, one change could be to use a text label with or for for main navigation. This article makes a good case study for why:

Also, I love the photography. One idea for keeping them consistently styled on an ongoing basis (not that they are inconsistent now) is to use a background blend mode:

    Nice work!

Passing on the top step, the effect will not work, because of the above elements are superimposed.

Thanks Beverley, I’m not sure what @BerkeleyFIind refers to.

Nevertheless, I would like to compliment you on the fine choice of color for your toenails ;)

… And I’m glad you appreciate my work, thanks!
