Video Background – Seamless Loop? Mobile Friendly?

Good morning all. I’ve a video background set up on the landing page of my site: http://simeonhendrix.com

It doesn’t load correctly on mobile, so I’m in search of how to write code so that when a device that can’t load the movie, it will default to a still image.

Also, how can I remove the initial black screen that shows when the video starts/restarts?

On this site here: http://barrelny.com/recap/2012/ there is no distracting black screen at beginning and it displays a still image on mobile devices.

Video is just not ‘mobile friendly’ in the first place.

It’s a resource, bandwidth and power hog.

I most certainly wouldn’t be EVER be using as it a background on a mobile site.

Sir, that’s why I was asking how to write a code so that when the page is viewed on a mobile device it displays a static .jpg image., as the example site above does. Thank you.
