    Looking for the holy grail of css 3 col designs. My main issue is, if the floated child elements (ie right) is longer then the body it hops over the container. Extremely annoying if there is a bg applied to the container.

    Have a look at the 960 Grid System. Perfect if you’re strugglign with columns

    Another CSS framework you could use is the Blueprint framework. It covers most elements of CSS where as 960 only covers the columns.
