I have been using freewebs to host my site for about a two months totally and after only 2 weeks I needed to upgrade do to site traffic. I still have about 10 months of hosting left from them. I was wondering if I am expecting a lot of members and visitors over the next year what are so great web site host or could I possibly host one myself. My website is dedicated to the Architecture and Design community and in just 2 weeks I have gotten over 1500 visitors and 65 members. Any suggestions?

I have a few sites hosted with GoDaddy and I’ve never had a problem with them, in fact I find their customer service to be spectacular. For a heavier project, we’ve gone with http://mediatemple.net/ for a bit more power.

I dont really view godaddy in a good light. Everyone I talk to seems to be saying its great or its garbage. Which to me means depending on the site you have and the time you spend on it, it could go either way. Plus the website itself looks like junk, it should be more impresive from a design point. They could be a great site for hosting but i cant figure out how they operate at all. The second one you metioned looks to be a great deal and a great host. I could see myself using this host by next year. Thanks for you comment.

If anyone else has any other ideas let me know,

I can’t say enough good things about these guys. I’ve never had a problem with their servers and their customer support is the best in the world. You submit a ticket on anything and they will try to help you with your problem the same day. I’ve asked them to trouble issues with MediaWiki and osCommerce before and they were very helpful and never complained once. It usually ended up being a config issue on my end.

You can host as many sites as you want there and the price is perfect.

They seem to be pretty fair indeed. I wont need that much space right now nor can I afford it yet but I will look into them in the future. Thanks for that info.

    Any others out there?
