I had actually built this effect the guts of 10 years ago using Flash. I had intended to make a short screencast on how i planned to port it in to 2009 using screenr but alas, I couldn’t make it fit in 5 minutes.
It’s a simple enough effect, I have 2 images with the focus point being in the background/foreground respectively. Then a simple alpha fade on a random timer and random speed creates the illusion of camera focusing erratically. With a couple of randomly positioned overlays to finish it off.
I think the end effect is pretty cool though, so I thought I’d share it anyway. The results of an afternoon of designers block.
