I was recently questioned on why I ‘still’ use a pen/pencil and paper initially in my process of designing and was just wondering if anybody else still continues this seemingly retro approach.
My initial response was just because for me, it’s an easy way to put the ideas in my head into more of a visual depiction. I know some may argue I could achieve the same thing by throwing together a quick mock up in Photoshop. However, for me I feel it’s a simple way to visualize and analyse any possible issues before jumping into Photoshop etc…
I still use a notebook and I’m not even doing design stuff anymore. When you need to get concepts down right away (whether designing or coding), there’s nothing better.
I used to, and for some people I’m pitching for I still do it.
Most of the time I just put stuff into the browser right away.
