Ok, first off I wasn’t sure where to post so I just went ahead and posted here. Anyways, I have been curious about MySQL. Im a somewhat newbie web designer…I primary do front-end developement (xHTML,CSS, Javascript/JQuery, etc). I know a little bit of PHP as well. SoOo..I guess my question is, how do I get started with MySQL. I am a Mac user and wanting to work on a few things, such as LogIn Systems, etc. I hope this is all making sense. This is what I have found:

Is this a good way to work? Or what do you recommend? I apologize if I am completely off base and have no idea what I am saying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*EDIT* Also, incase you are wondering…I use TextMate and Aptana as my editor.

Yeah, I would go with MAMP. That’s what I personally use. The installation is pretty straight forward, but in case you need help with the process, I have done a quick screencast on it (bottom of the page):

I haven’t personally used Sequel Pro, but I have heard it is good. PHPMyAdmin (included with MAMP, does very similar things to Sequel Pro) works just fine for me.
