So, I’ve been trying to revamp my logo for a little while and I’ve been really inspired by ASCII lately. The thing I love about it is the fact that I can pimp out my BASH configs to display awesome ASCII art. So… I wanted a logo that I could easily ASCII-fy. Here is the ASCII version:
I think I’ll vector this tomorrow for the real thing. I like that it’s my name but it’s still a bit abstract. As part of the hacker ethos, I can’t have my logo be totally distinguishable upon first glance. I want to give people a little brain candy and make them feel smart when they finally ‘see’ it.
Also, I like that I can do a little CSS transition on it. It can start as just a few chevron arrows/brackets and dots and slide open to be my name.
The Last variation seems even better suitable for a logo, for it’s terse ( will fit nicely inside of a square).
Just like that Frustro font, also “the Verge”‘s logo has this Penrose triangle treatment. Guess you are already thinking about doing variations on this theme, so maybe you can use that as well …
( And there is always the inevitable M.C. Escher of course for many examples … )
