MemberHi, I am putting a website together with dreamweaver cs5.5 and latest version of Wamp. I noticed that mediatemple’s php and mysql version are somewhat … outdated shown below.
Mediatemple lamp stack:
Apache 2.0.54
MySQL 5.1.26
PHP Version 5.2.17
….I know alot of you use mediatemple… I doesn’t make any sense to me, creating a website now using outdated version just to have the site work on the host when a fairly more recent version of php/mysql is is available…. Being a newbie, I guess i have to develop my cms website using php/mysql version that is currently supported on mediatemple? is that true?
I appreciate any help. Thanks!

InactiveI wouldn’t worry about it, just continue development. If the outdated version becomes an issue contact Mediatemple about it.

MemberHey there, I work at (mt). We get this question tossed at us every once and awhile. We try to update our PHP versions to the most secure + recent version out there.(5.3.8 being our most recent) Just like any new piece of technology, there’s always speed bumps. Because of those speed bumps, we like to stay a steady course in keeping the newest versions that we feel safe to use.
When we change MySQL or Apache on the (gs) Grid-Service, it’s a change that would need to run across the entire service. With such a large amount of customers living on that product, it’s quite a large scale project. With the large amount of customers on the (gs), we are also wary not to shake things up too much so that customers aren’t affected negatively. The outdated versions shouldn’t have a debilitating affect on what you are trying to do, but I totally understand where you are coming from.
Feel free to shoot over any other questions.

MemberThanks for reply Matt. Are you saying my site would work alright on (mt) then?

MemberSorry for the delay, didn’t catch this until now. So Dreamweaver is going to work on the (gs), but you are going to run into problems with trying to use WAMP and our services together. The (gs) already has LAMP, and we do not support anything Windows based.
