[Solved] Markup inserted out of the blue!

Hi Everyone :) I am have been facing this problem of markup mysteriously being inserted into the html and have been scratching my head ever since. Desperate for a hand of guidance! Please! Here is the code http://codepen.io/anon/pen/YPJaEm

I want to hide the img wrapped in anchors. And put hover states on the nav’s anchors below. But the hidden reappears 3 times inside the nav, ul and first li :(.
