    Has anyone else noticed this?

Whilst you can set a max and a min, i.e. a range of numbers, the user can still enter in any number they want.

So if they type directly into the field, even if your range is 1-12, they can happily enter 123567.

Kind of a dumb omission, no? Surely the whole point of having a number slider is you’re restricting the range people can enter in. It seems really bad for usability.

They can enter the number, but they can’t submit the form with an invalid number. I like that UI, it gives them a chance to edit their data without forcing anything.

Note that input type=number is different than input type=range — with range, there is literally a slider and you can’t move the slider outside of that range.
