Over the last few months i’ve had an idea for a website. The more i think about it, the more i really like it.

Obviously i’m not going to share the idea, but it takes the simple things from a social networking site like facebook and combines it with a common interest. It would be similar to facebook design/development wise, but the audience is a particular niche so it would be on a much smaller scale.

The problem is i don’t have the expertise to even attempt doing something like this. I’m basically a designer who knows how to use WordPress. So what are my options?

Do i attempt to learn the necessary languages to achieve such a site by myself? I’m currently a freelancer (just started) and i don’t really have the time to put a lot of effort into something like this.

Do i try to get in contact with someone who has the skills to achieve something like this? I really don’t have much capital to play around with and im guessing it would be hard to find someone who would want to have a go at something like this for free.

I’m guessing the first thing i should do is sit down and write something similar to a business report.

    Thoughts?

I would really work out the idea. Figure out the goals of the site and what you hope to accomplish with it (while being realistic).

Figure out what you want the site to do, then I’d probably get in touch with a UI/UX specialist.

Unfortunately, once you start dishing things out to other people you start incurring costs! The only thing you could do to avoid that is to legalize it as a business entity and offer shares in the company as payment.
