Hi there, I have 3 versions of my website, translated through Smartling.

    The English version is http://worldoceansday.org , Spanish is http://es.worldoceansday.org , French is http://fr.worldoceansday.org .

I’m looking for a method to present these options to a first-time visitor, and then remember their preference for subsequent visits. Like the UN website has here: http://www.un.org/

Can anyone tell me the best way to go about this? Thanks!

I think the easiest method would be to add a tiny flag icon in the upper corner that the user can click on to switch languages. Then once the language has been selected, save that preference to a cookie or local storage so you can switch the language automatically on subsequent visits.

Another option would be to make a splash page with the language options and use the same process as above.
