    Hello.

This is the first site I’ve made and I’m sure these two issues have an easy solution but my eyes and brain are a little worn out so I’m having trouble identifying where I’m going wrong.

    The site is here.

    My two issues are that:

    1) The external links to Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram don’t work.

    2) While adjusting the tags in the menu the Tumblr and Twitter backgrounds are now connected and I can’t figure out how to reset their spacing.

Unfortunately, you have started off with using absolute positioning, inline CSS and used some elements that really aren’t suited for the purpose.

I’d recommend getting to grips with some basic layout options (http://learnlayout.com/)

Fully externalising your CSS into a proper CSS stylesheet and looking into some basic element selections.

Thank you both for the links and advice.

I’m going to go and move the inline properties over to the stylesheet and change the positioning of the absolute elements.
