Fixed Header & Footer

  • # August 26, 2011 at 1:43 pm

I have a header and footer that I have fixed on a page. I would like the content in the center of the page to be the only part that scrolls. It would be awesome for the height of the container to be only what is left after the height of the footer and header. Hopefully someone can help me. I only have this on a local server so nothing published yet.

Do you mean something like this?

@Doc – Yes to a point. I have a border around the content. I was hoping to make it look a little like a JQuery modal popup with just the scrolling.

I was testing something similar a while ago:

I’ve had to move this to the back burner for the last week but now I’m working on it again. I have the header and footer working like I want. I want to manipulate the center section so that it is 960px wide with 20px top and bottom padding. I’m trying to load the pages without reloading the entire site because I would like to play music in the footer without it restarting over and over.

I would also like to do something like this as well. Actually was just thinking on posting a discussion on it.

@djpic, @joshuanhibbert, @TheDoc – I was doing some searching this morning and found the following article but they said that it didn’t work in WordPress 3.2.1 and I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me why it won’t work in WP 3.2.1.
