Embedded YouTube video won't resize

I want to just do a regular video embed with a size of about 400×250 px. But I for the life of me cannot get it to work. It’s like there’s some sort of empty container that doesn’t get resized. I just put it in a div and gave that a class. I tried with the regular shortcode for video embeds, but that does kind of does the same.

It would be a lot easier for us to debug your code when it’s editable inside a pen. That said, here’s a working example:
