Hi I was wondering what people could suggest re styling a custom select box be it javascript or css or both. I’ve been using the -webkit-appearance approach but the client is really keen to get it working as well as possible on mobile and down to ie9 look and feel wise.

Just wondering what others are doing in this situation and what kind of libraries people are using. I had a look at ng-select but am not a fan of the text input search as the main select element.

    Thanks :)

Pretty much every cross-browser option I’ve seen involves hiding the input and substituting another element in it’s place then using JS to make it all work.

Frankly, I think it’s a lot of hard work for very little benefit. Users expect the inputs to look a certain way in certain browsers, they’re used to it and the way they work.

Webpages do not have to look the same in all browsers…

…But the client wants what the client wants
