    Hi Guys,

One stupid question here. How do you setup your local development environment?

I just finished to build a big WP website with a lot of content and pictures. Now I need to upload them to the real address. So, I exported the content using Tools->Export and imported there. But now I need to fix all the links and references, because a lot of stuffs are pointing to my local address.

Any tip how to avoid this headache?

    Best,
    Daniel

I don’t use the built in export features to deploy a client site.

I export the database using Phpmyadmin or mysqldump. Then search and replace http://olddomain.com/subdir with http://newdomain.com/newsubdir in the sql file.

It’s far more reliable than import/export if you have a lot of posts/pages and it takes WordPress settings and plugin options too.
