I don’t see why not. I have quite a bit of experiences with wordpress having customized almost 300 themes for clients. Not all off these are theme builds some tweaks or small customization but lately I have used the underscore framework http://underscores.me/ and it is a great starting point for theme development. Are you proficient in php or are you more of a html/css guy?
