Home › Forums › JavaScript › Copy to clipboard – pure javascript solution
Hello everyone I’m trying to make a button that can copy to clipboard the text in an input element.
I made some research and I found this interesting article.
Also I can see the problem on css-tricks article_2
By the way It don’t seem to exists a pure javascript solution to this problem because of security problems. The only article I found for a pure js solution is the following:
article_3
I would like to know what you think is the best solution.
I would like to use a pure javascript solution because I’m assuming those based on flash wouldn’t work on iphone, etc..
Here’s how GutHub does it.

I used to use ZeroClipboard. Works great! A pure JS solution would always show up as an alert to the user.
@chrisburton I saw you talking about ZeroClipboard on this discussion. Did you solve it? It would be great to know how to do also that way =) Actually I’ve some problems to understand how to setup ZeroClipboard, do I need to configure something on the server or it’s simpler than I think?
Right. Make sure you read the chat log as well. I had to edit some actionscript file for it to work in my particular case.
