I never heard of the acronym-tag, thought abbr-element was made for this.
Atleast, acronym doesn’t have styling by default in Firefox/Safari (ie. question cursor and dotted underline), where abbr(evation) has !

The acronym tag is deprecated use “abbr” tag instead :)

one question; how can you make a tooltip for navigation-bar like in Yahoo? when mouse over you have the tool tip that explains the content of that page before choosing that link in a nav-bar.
Avoid the Deprecated <acronym> Tag in HTML 5
<acronym> is obsolete.
Use <abbr> instead.
