WordPress and custom write panels

  • # April 24, 2009 at 11:35 pm

I’m looking at using wordpress as a CMS and I like the idea of custom write panels for custom fields. Through google, I found the flutter plugin which enables you to create custom write panels. It looks good but I found some feedback from around 6 months ago that said it was buggy and not ready for prime time. Has anyone used it? Six months is a long time in the web world, so maybe it has improved since then.

Do you know if there are any better plugins for custom write panels? Thanks for any help you can give.

I keep meaning to check out flutter properly but never seem to get around to it. I did find this recent article which would suggest that is a lot more stable now http://stylizedweb.com/2009/01/15/flutter-the-ultimate-wordpress-cms-updated/
Otherwise, if you’re reasonably comfortable with PHP you could roll your own custom write panels http://wefunction.com/2008/10/tutorial-creating-custom-write-panels-in-wordpress/
