    Hi,

I am finally building my own Web Contracting web site. I would like to build a page/module that allows the users to either select from a set of standard templates and/or project sizes or select a custom package where they choose the options they want and see a real time $ estimate as add/remove options.

I am building the site on Rails which may be overkill, but I like the freedom of easily installed gems. My question is should I use a pre-built gem for this, a shopping cart? Or should I just build it from scratch?

I’m sure with a form and some JS it could be done easily. Or even in ruby it could be done easily.

    Any suggestions?
