Shame in templates?

  • # November 10, 2008 at 10:39 pm

I was wondering how many of you use templates out there? And to what degree?

I’m sure there are some people who use a template for a ground work and end up changing practically everything to the point where the original isn’t even identifiable. And I know there are also some people who spend 40 bucks on a Flash theme, do some XML editing and charge a hefty bill to their client.

I’m very interested in anyone’s thoughts about this.

The few templates I’ve looked at have all been for either WP or osCommerce. I would happily charge a customer to alter a WP theme for them but I would be up front that it was someone else’s theme and only charge for my modifications. The osc templates are all so badly written, I wouldn’t touch one.

Well, what about Flash? You can buy nice templates for 20-50 bucks. Rather then tell a client "Well, I can’t do much Flash" I’d rather be able to offer them something. I’d like to eventually learn Flash, but right now I simply do not have the time, and I prefer htmlcssjs anyways.
