IE6 & CSS issues

  • # November 12, 2009 at 9:55 am

    Here’s the site: http://staceybertrand.info

    I’ve browser tested on Firefox, IE 7&8, Opera and Safari – all appear to be fine, but for some reason IE6 seems to be messing it up by shifting the content area around quite a bit…see the image attachment for the screenshot.

    I admit, fairly new to CSS/Wordpress and just was unsure how to fix it. Please let me know if you need any code or anything – I’d be happy to supply [but didn’t want to bog this down with useless information]![attachment=0]mccarthyie6.jpg[/attachment]

    Thanks for any help you can shed!

    I played around with this for ages in firebug and I think this should work (certainly won’t make it any worse):

    Code:
    #bodyPan {
    background-color:#FFFFFF;
    margin:0 auto;
    padding:0;
    position:relative;
    width:755px;
    }
    #leftPan {
    background-color:#FFFFFF;
    float:right;
    padding:0 0 0 15px;
    width:150px;
    }
    #rightPan {
    background-color:#FFFFFF;
    border-right:1px solid #C8E8E2;
    float:left;
    margin:0;
    padding:0 15px;
    width:559px;
    }

    Most of your problems stem from using the negative margin, others may disagree but I think that except in special circumstances, if you need to use a negative margin to get something where you want it on the page then something else is wrong. Didn’t help having #leftPan on the right and #rightPan on the left either. :D
    You really ought to sort out some of those errors on the page too. http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fstaceybertrand.info%2F
