Hello Everyone.
Firstly I just want to say how useful this site and the forum has been.
I’m in the process of developing a site in asp.net however I am now interested in developing it further by adding an e-commerce feature, such as user accounts, shopping basic and payment options.
I would really appreciate any advice of where to begin with this and which avenue I should go down.
Many Thanks
Use an off the shelf system – building your own is going to take a long time and is pretty heavy going.
Thanks, I’m looking into migrating to WordPress, not sure of the advantages tho.
You really want to use a e-commerce solution that is already made. Things like security, shipping rates, taxes and payment gateways are a huge undertaking.
Using WordPress your will get a highly customizable and adapatable CMS. E-commerce plugins like WooCommerce, WP-Ecommerce or even FoxyCart can help out a ton.
WooCommerce is pretty decent – give it a go, it probably does 90% of what you want.
