{"id":340573,"date":"2021-05-13T15:55:35","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T22:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/css-tricks.com\/?p=340573"},"modified":"2021-05-13T15:55:37","modified_gmt":"2021-05-13T22:55:37","slug":"2021-design-systems-survey-courses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/css-tricks.com\/2021-design-systems-survey-courses\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 Design Systems (Survey\/Courses)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>My friends at Sparkbox are doing a survey on design systems, as they do each year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/RMJMFDW\" rel=\"noopener\">Go ahead and fill it<\/a> out if you please. <a href=\"https:\/\/designsystemssurvey.seesparkbox.com\/2020\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Here are the results from last year.<\/a> In both 2019 and 2020, the vibe was that design systems (both as an idea and as a real thing that real companies really use) are maturing. But still, it was only a quarter of folks who said their actual design system was mature. I wonder if that&#8217;ll go up this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my circles, &#8220;design system&#8221; isn&#8217;t the buzzword it was a few years ago, but it doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s less popular. If anything, they are more popular almost entering the territory of <em>assumed<\/em>, like responsive design is. I do feel like if you&#8217;re building a website from components, well, you&#8217;ve got a component library at least, which is how I think of design systems (as a dude who pretty much exclusively works on websites). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;d better be careful though. I know design systems mean different things to different people. Speaking of which, I&#8217;d be remiss if I didn&#8217;t also shout out the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/ethanmarcotte.com\/wrote\/aquent-design-systems-courses\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ethan has a handful of totally free courses<\/a> he&#8217;s created on design systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>As you might have guessed from the titles, we\u2019ve broadly organized the courses around roles: whether you\u2019re a designer, a developer, or a product manager, we\u2019ve got something for you.
