I’ve done 62 Tuesday “Links of Interest” posts over the past 18 months or so. it’s been fun and a good way to share links, but I’m letting you know this will be the last one. It’s not because I don’t like sharing links, it’s because me doing it here is just a little redundant to link sharing I do elsewhere and it’s starting to feel a bit too much like “filler” content. I look forward to saving myself a little time every week to spend on something else.
Also, there are plenty of other sites that specialize in the stream of links thing, which can ultimately deliver links to interesting stuff in a more timely manner. One of these sites is my own Script & Style (update: site is no longer available), which I will continue to be the main source I contribute links to.
If you are a total link junkie and need more, here are a couple of other sites that specialize in a stream of design related links.
Yes! This is a wonderful idea.
I try my best to maintain Inbox Zero with my RSS reader as well as my email, so if a feed is just sending me the same content I’m getting from other feeds I have, I get frustrated. If they do it enough, I’ll unsubscribe – I’m too busy to deal with that noise-to-signal ratio.
I think you post enough original, quality content of your own. I appreciate you trying your best to keep it that way.
Cheers.
More screencasts!!
Just watching you code helps me learn better than anything! …and I’m starting to get those CSS aha! moments (like absolute positioning within a relative parent).
Chris,
Thanks for mentioning DesignM.ag. I think your decision is a good move. I used to do weekly link posts about a year ago and then I moved to monthly. I’m thinking now of stopping altogether for basically the same reasons you’ve mentioned here. Although link posts are short, they still take time. I think you’ll notice the difference and if that frees you up to do other stuff, that’s a good thing.
Thanks Chris for the mention. I believe that you provide enough high quality content to satisfy any reader. As you said there are lots of good quality “link” sites out there :)
I have to say Chris, I will miss your Links of Interest posts. The title spoke for itself and I was always guaranteed that the links were well thought out and genuinely of interest to me!
I will check out Script & Style and some of the other resources you mentioned. Thanks for all your previous links!
