Got to give us a bit more to go on mate. This is like the old how long is a peice of string question. Don’t you have an example we can look at?
Sorry it was the viewbox size I was using.
Wow thanks Bearhead just seen you’ve built the entire demo, thanks man I wasn’t expecting you to go that far. Really appreciate both of your help.
Thanks bearhead I’ll take a look. Are CSS columns part of CSS Grid or is that something else?
Cheers Paulie. Could the hero be just an inline image or would I need to use a background?
Yes there is. I think Chris did a video about this years ago. I think it might have been when he covered the re-design of this site when he set up the Lodge.
This is the plugin he used. https://restrictcontentpro.com/
Thanks Paulie thats very helpful.
Thanks mate. Just starting to play around with Flexbox.
What’s your view on using Flexbox for main layouts?
Sorry to be a bit cheeky but whats the difference between
0 0 100% and using flex-basis: 100%; and which should really be used?
Thanks Paulie much appreciated.
I did try the 0 0 100% but I was missing the flex wrap, makes totally sense now I’ve seen it.
I get that 100% means 100% width but why do we need the 0 0? what are these doing?
Thanks again man!
Thanks Beverleyh, I really appreciate your help.
I’m not wanting any of the features a framework gives you so I may just opt for a lighter weight grid system. I’ve no real desire to create my own but I do want to keep things as performant as possible.
Are there any that would you recommend?
Thanks for replying Dan but I want to do this myself.
Thanks man you’ve cracked it! Deadline looming and I wanted something more robust than the hack I was using.
Thanks again very much appreciated!
not totally sure what you mean. Isn’t this just achieved with CSS? WordPress gives you certain classes that you can use to style accordingly.
You can set parameters in your wp nav menu function to control class names and behavior etc.
Sorry if I’ve misunderstood your question.
Didn’t know you could do that commenting out.
Have you used in-line block with this for whole layouts?
I suppose browser support won’t be an issue for this either.
Thanks Josh. I’m not too familiar with display table. What does this achieve?
How do you get around the white space issue with in-line block? is that what the display table does?
I’ve heard that you can do a layout with unordered lists and leave the li’s without closing tags. That technique wouldn’t sit well with my OCD nature when it comes to code.
