I’m only doing it because I wanted to keep track of redesigns for sites I like.
Is the fixed top bar (logo and google ads) annoying?

ParticipantIt’s very simple.
My biggest recommendation is to add custom <a> colors. It’s "noobish" to use the default browser link colors IMHO.
The top bar isn’t bad. At least it’s nice and thin.

MemberAside from most ads (except dairy milk on tv) being quite annoying, those at the top of your site aren’t too protruding, though they do take focus away from the rest of your content due to the boldness.
My main gripe about your site is that your logo doesn’t leap out enough.
I’ve done quite a bit of work involving eye-tracking software and analysing websites and the logo is one of the main things you want the user to see, as it brings a brand to your business.
Otherwise, your site is very clean looking and could possibly benefit from image border colours changing to a darker colour on mouse over.
Hope this helps!

MemberI agree with the previous two. Please god, get rid of the default blue. If anything, just tone it down! CSS is too easy to not do that. Ditch the ads, or put them at the bottom if possible, or the side and move the name of the site to the center. And a simple background image of some kind is too easy not to implement. Pure white BG’s only work when the layout and content is very engaging and it’s just not.
I mean, just to be a bit honest, you’re calling it "ultimate CSS gallery" and it’s extremely mangled and un-impressive…so I feel a bit jipped when I view it.

What does mangled mean?
What is a design gallery that you regularly visit and why do you like it?

Why do you like those galleries? Is it just because of aesthetic appeal or do you like a specific feature?
I have always liked webcreme.com because I like the size of the "thumbnails" (450 x 200). It’s very easy to scan and get a good impression of what the entire website looks like. But I’ve never liked it’s small pagination links.

Honestly, I prefer to look at the websites, so don’t mind the smaller icons. but BWG has a couple different views to choose from (and it saves your setting) which is pretty cool.
