WordPress Pagination Not Working

I have the pagination in my theme, but whenever I click the page number or next button to go to the next page, the URL changes like it should go to the new page, but the post doesn’t change at all and just remains the post from page 1. Has anyone else come across this problem before?

I vaguely recall encountering pagination issues with wordpress in the past due to the permalink structure of the site – might be worth looking into. I believe it was an issue with using %category%/%postname% as using the category tag causes some issues. Again, I only vaguely recall so some of what I said could be false… but it’s probably worth looking into.
