Just wondering if there is anyone around who could walk me through a local dev permissions issue or, alternatively point me to something that shows this.
If I set up local WordPress site in MAMP from scratch no worries.
If I copy a site down and import the DB etc it’s all good but I can’t upload media due to the old “can’t create directory” permissions issue.
If it were remote / live server I’d just chmod to fix it but this is local and I’m at a loss.
There are sooo many tutorials out there to set up locally but they all stop once you get WordPress working and then don’t carry on to test file uploads.
Tried get info and sort permissions on the folder but that does not work.
Tried Terminal to chmod locally but I’m a noob at that and can’t even get into the right directory … won’t accept the MAMP directory as existing (?).
Any help appreciated! I’ve been doing half local / half live dev to overcome this and I really want to get the workflow … well… working! I’m sure it’s going to be something simple :)
Happy to report this problem solved. It was simple!
There was an old path in the Media setting field of where to save the files.
I removed that and everything worked just fine :)
Doh!
