Sorry for the poor title, but the proper terms escape me.

Essentially, I want to know how to display posts in a hierarchical fashion like is currently used on the home page of this site (http://www.css-tricks.com). For instance, the most recent post up top, full-width of the content area, with the second and third most-recent posts below it in a 2-column fashion.

I have been searching EVERYWHERE, and I can’t find it. I’m no WordPress/Loop whiz, but I’m pretty confident I can figure it out if someone can just point me in the right direction.

    Many thanks!

I’m running multiple loops on the homepage. First loop snags the first one. Second loop grabs the next four, offset by one.

See page 92 of Digging Into WordPress =)

Awesome; thanks Chris. Seems I need to bone up on my Loop knowledge!
