I want to create a breadcrumb in WordPress and use existing styles that I have created. What is the best way of doing this?

Do I register another menu in the functions template and place the breadcrumb as a nav in the relevant area (e.g., sidebar.php)?

Or is it better to use a WP plugin and change the styles from there?

A breadcrumb would typically never go in the sidebar, so I’m just confirming that you want something like this:

Home > Next Page > Another Level Deeper > You Are Here

Something like that? If so, my plugin of choice is Breadcrumb NavXT.

Thanks doc. Out of interest, why wouldn’t it go in the sidebar?

Just because they can get quite long so it’d be wrapping down (which is generally a no-no for breadcrumbs).
