I’m using starkers theme for wordpress and i can’t seem to figure out why the top bar is different from any other theme than with starkers theme :

I’ve tried searching in functions (found where to enable the menu in the sidebar of the admin panel) but couldn’t nothing else. Could somebody please help me?
I’ve not yet figured out quite the rhyme-or-reason for when and why some things do or do not show up, except that it is possible to programmatically add or remove items. Here’s an example adding items:

Except the admin bar is not part of the settings API. But as it turns out, my link is outdated – the admin bar in 3.1 was replaced with the toolbar in 3.3 and while the approach in the post should work, the new function is add_node(…) rather than add_menu(…).
