I’m creating a "main" sprites png which contains background images of many different elements of the page (which don’t repeat). Is this beneficial to page load time? Right now it’s about 61KB (and getting larger as I add more background images). Would it be better to have a few small sprites images or one very large one?

Updating the sprites image could be a pain though. But I figured a way of naming my slices and outputting the html to give the co-ordinates of each slice, so that’s not an issue.

    Thanks!
