    The reason I ask this is many wider screens are 1.6:1. However, the BROWSER is generally much smaller than the screen… if only because of browser search bars and tabs. There for I ask you… what do you think is the best aspect ratio for background photos?

    1.6:1? 1.8:1?


    16:9 ( 1.7‾‾ ) is a pretty common ratio. Anything will be a compromise, though.


    I suppose it would be more important to make sure the “important” part of the picture is contained within the intersection of (most) common ratios.


    You might want to go with 3:2 if you’re worried about constrained browser windows.
