    Hi

I am working on an educational page, and i am using Archivo-Narrow webfont.
It works well in safari, but in firefox and chrome the font looks bold.
Can you check it out, and see if you have the same issue?

It doesn’t look ‘bold’ to me. When I add bold styling to your paragraphs via FireBug, then I see bold! Otherwise, looks fine.

    Hi again.

My client sent me these two screendumps, to show me the difference:

    1) how it is supposed to look like, in Chrome/Safari

    2) how firefox renders the font a bit bolder:

I don’t the difference is too bad, but is there anyway to make ff render a font lighter? i have tried to set the font-weight to: 100 in all paragraphs.

    Simon,
I think the difference in weights between Chrome/Safari and Firefox is due to the rendering engines that they use. One approach to this may be to do a little bit of education with your client and let them know that the way type is rendered in Photoshop or a JPG file is not the same as it will be rendered in a browser. Another thing that I like to do with clients is talk to them about how low the likelihood is that a visitor will be viewing the site in multiple browsers at the same time. Therefore, as long as the site functions and looks as similar as it can across browsers, they should be happy with it. Not always as easy as I am making it out to be, but hopefully that helps.

    Cheers,
    Paul
