    I’m looking through the twitter bootstrap css, and it uses a * in mid css selector for widths in the responsive layout. for example:

    .row-fluid .span9{width:74.30939226519337%;*width:74.25620077583166%;}

    My questions are:
    what does that star do here?
    why are there 2 different numbers?
    which one takes precedence?

    Thanks for your time.

    If I recall correctly it’s the IE ‘star hack’ to apply different stylings to IE only instead of creating a separate IE specific stylesheet.
