I have an existing application which supports CSS, individual instances I am able to change by updating the CSS, generally changing colours images and fonts, matching these to companies existing themes so the application does not look at of place within their organisation.

Is there any way I can have a single instance in which different users (with different logins) can see different CSS, by just making changes to the CSS to pick up login or some attribute?

And yes I am a CSS rookie, but I get by and can do some nice things, its just now I want to go this next step but am not sure where to start.

    Nope. Not by pure CSS.

You could probably do something with PHP and Javascript but it sounds like a whole lot of work as you would have multiple stylesheets loading dependent on the user.

For an app, that seems unnecessary. Users are used to stand-alone applications not being in the corporate colors.
