I’m making a portfolio page with little rectangles that show a quickview of the portfolio pieces. little icons…

should I make separate icons for each piece and use img in html to bring them in?
or should I use css background image instead?

and if I’m using css should I take all my icons and make one big sprite?

well they are just images for the portfolio and when you click them they will open a lightbox or something and show more info about the image. each one has its own anchor so you can search that and i can text-indent the words in the anchor but aren’t they still searchable?

how can I make a collection of them using image?
