Structure Photoshop layers to mimic DOM?

How wise of an idea is this? It seems like it might have some organizational benefits, but before I mock-up an entire site like this I’d like to get some feedback from folks who may have done this, or just get others opinions in general. Thanks.

Sounds like a fantastic idea to me :p – Also haven’t heard of it before.

Edit: I know PS3 can’t have a ton of nested layer groups – Don’t know if that affects you or not.

I tried it but unfortunately it doesn’t really work if you need to use any kind of z-indexing on the page. If you don’t need to use z-indexing on the other hand, I can see it being very beneficial.
