Hello CSS-Tricks, new user here. I’m having a bit of trouble with a 2-column layout. I’ve been searching Google for hours now & haven’t found anything that solves my problem. What I need is for my sidebar to extend along with the main content of the layout. Now there are quite a few tips/tricks I’ve found that were really useful. But my problem is that I use a repeating background image in the sidebar & none of them could accommodate that.
Here’s a screen of the layout I’m working on.

You’ll notice the transparent gradient flushed to the left of the sidebar background. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
To be honest, I actually think it looks better not extending down to the bottom.
But if it’s what you really want, you’ll want to looking into using "faux columns".

Well I agree it does look good from this screen. It’s just that there’s a footer at the bottom and the absent space between the sidebar looks odd.
Thanks for the link though, looks like this is just what I needed. Appreciate it.
