I’ve watched the first few episodes of the following Spanish telenovela, “La Fea Mas Bella”. What I find annoying about it is that it has four black bars all around it while the video is playing. They don’t disappear even after clicking Enter Full Screen.

The 100 or more episodes were originally shown on cable TV, so I can’t imagine the program would have been presented to the public with those black bars so noticeable.

I’m using a Chromebox. If I go to Inspect Elements, is there anything that could be changed there that would eliminate these black bars – without causing distortion of any imagery in the video?

Should this question be posted on CodePen?

Not sure what could be done but since it’s not that recent, it was aired in the old 4:3 aspect ratio (on matching TVs at the time).

I have a 32″ LG HDTV which allows me to switch between two aspect ratios – 4:3 and 16:9. Both have the same problem.
