Hi Chris,
recently I have read an article about “SEMalt.c?m”. It claims to be indexing my site “http://www.onemediamarket.com” (Which is a WordPress site)and revering traffic which I thought was great. However it now seems to be damaging my site in search engine results by increasing my bounce rate.
I would love your thoughts on this. I no I can block the site from indexing my pages by adding code I found on wordpress.org.
I just want to be sure this is the right course of action.
Patrick.
PS You provide an asesome resource via your many sites and blogs etc. I’m a fan. Stay awesome.
It’s not indexing you site. It sends bogus visits as referral with 100% bounce rate. I fell for the same thing. What you can do is to exclude them from a traffic count. In GA go to admin – all filters and exclude them as referral. That’s all you can do.
Semalt is becoming an increasing issue in the WordPress world. See this thread on the support forum (with some suggestions on how to block them): https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-block-semaltcom-from-visiting-your-wordpress-website
I’d definitely put it in the same category as spam. There’s nothing legit about it.
