[Solved] a:hover jumping/flickering in IE

Hello All,

This is my first real stab at fully designing a site using CSS so please bear with me.

When I view my site on Safari/Firefox/Chrome it looks perfect and seems to work perfectly, see http://www.advancedsafetymanagement.ie/wip/

My issue is with IE (as usual).

1. The horizontal menu moves onto the next line
2. On hover, the tabs on the menu are jumping on both the horizontal and vertical menu

I am probably doing something pretty silly but I have searched and searched for a solution with no luck.

Please forgive me if my CSS is poor.

Would it have anything to do with doctype?

Footnote – you will notice a table layout in the code – this comes from an old CMS which I will hopefully get rid of pretty soon so please ignore this.

Not sure what I did but I was playing around with various padding and margin settings and it seems to have been sorted.
