    I was inspired by this older post (https://css-tricks.com/forums/topic/sexy-css3-fading-line/) to come up with my own image-less sexy horizontal line.

    Yeah, that looks good. I think anywhere between 0-0.5 works well (alpha size)

    I like it but I’d rather style an <hr> that have to remember that I need to add a class that has a pseudo-elementthat enables a ‘sexyline’.

    I get how this could be useful, but, to me, it’s easier to add a specific element than to remember to add a class to a specific element…if that makes sense.

    Yeah, I understand… Extra classes or extra markup — its sixes either way. I prefer extra classes so that my markup only marks up content, but using an hr would be a totally valid way of doing it too.
