Greetings,
I have been searching for a way to do what I have seen done in Flash in the past.
The idea is simple:
When you hover a button it would display a new color. Yes yes.. this has been done a thousand times. Well the special thing I am trying to do is a fade effect between the two images on the rollover.
Here is an example of this:

Please note: I do not work for, know anyone thats works for, trying to sell, any templates. I am just trying to re-do what they are doing with the buttons on the top but instead it would be using CSS and Javascript.
Regards,
Maybe this recent screencast could give you a step in the right direction. I’m sure you could shrink the effect to a smaller link size: https://css-tricks.com/video-screencasts/93-css3-slideup-boxes/
Have a look at this.
Thanks guys. I am looking forward to using the CSS3 Slideup Boxes once CSS3 is supported by IE as well.
I will try to implement your suggestion Jamy_za.
If anyone else has any other ideas feel free to post suggestions.
