To Evert’s point, the layout should not drastically flip-flop the elements of the site, it can confuse the user who normally view it on a particular device . This is not good practice for UX, although it strikes some users as ‘pretty cool’ – that’s not what’s important.
The concept of responsive design is surely here to stay, it is up to the designer/developer how to keep a solid and relevant UI across any device that the USER can RESPOND to.
It’s all about the user. We aren’t Responding to devices, we are Responding to the users, regardless of how they are viewing it.
