After working as a freelance web designer for a couple of years, as of recently I have teamed up with a partner so we can start our own firm.
We already have a name figured out, but the problem is our ideal domain name (companyname.com) has already been taken.
The good news is the variant with a dash (company-name.com), as well as variants ending in .co or .net are available.
So, can you perhaps offer some advice which of these would be the wisest choice to make?
Get all .net and .org combinations you can get. So if companyname.com is not available, get these:
Add some others if you like (your country code is a possibility too). Domains cost next to nothing nowadays so it wouldn’t hurt to get some extras.
Yea, if somebody has the .com you’ll definitely want to snatch up all of the other ones.
Also, try and see if the domain extension of .me is taken.
So basically the best thing to do is buy everything that is not yet taken, just in case someone else decides to snatch it?
